[2009/07/02] ASMEDIA has finished the phase 1 validation of both Super Speed USB(USB3.0) & SATA 6Gbps PHY with FPGA.
"ASMEDIA had proven technology with joint-validation with key Super-Speed USB host players. ACPI, hot-plug, copy & compare and burn-in test was done via co-validation with major ODMs. The test chip also performed excellent performance from signal quality view point. We also validated our design with protocol analyzer vendors. The phase 1 validation of our Super Speed USB controller was done. The real silicon will be ready around Q3'2009", according to Weber Chuang, senior direct of production marketing.

SATA 6Gbps is the next generation technology defined by SATA IO. It doubles the transfer rate from SATA3Gbps. Since the audio and video content quality is enhanced, the demand of storage device capacity and transfer speed is required, such as HD and BD format. With SATA6Gps is implemented, device vendor can easily enhanced system performance and provide better user experience.
Super Speed USB (USB3.0) is defined by USB IF and announced in Nov’2008. It’s 10 times faster than USB2.0. Not only faster, but also backward compatible with millions of USB2.0 and 1.1 devices, Super Speed USB can refresh user experience with better energy saving mechanism is defined.
